ROUND  FIVE   REVIEW -   GOOEY RIGHT AT HOME AT 'ROYAL' CENTENARY PARK.

Only The Bean was absent today because for the first time ever the longest Massey season in history has clashed with the footy season. Even that intrepid Saints supporter Glenn missed out on the footy in pursuit of back to back Massey Glory. However, it was Gooey on his home patch at Centenary Park scoring a PB stableford score of 40 points to make up some ground on the leaders ...

ROUND  FOUR   REVIEW -   HENRY BACK ON TOP OF A BUNCHED FIELD.

Another full field assembled at Amstel full of expectation in what is heating up as possibly the closest Massey in history. However, unfortunately the course did not match expectations with many bare patches on most fairways. Henry continued his consistent year tying in first place with Gooey who showed a welcome return to form with net 70's while Murph returned a much needed net 71 to also bring home double figure points. It wasn't such good news for the current Massey leader ...

ROUND  THREE   REVIEW -   KENNY GOES BACK TO BACK IN DEWARS CLASSIC

It was great to see a full Massey field assemble for the Dewars Classic on this fine Friday afternoon. Could there be a breakaway at the top of the table or would the this be a chance for the tail to make up some ground? Overnight leader Glenn unfortunately, could not consolidate at The Schanck with a score of only 23 stableford points and finished in an unusual last place. Jimmy the Griff and Quinny got off to flyers in their quest to make up some ground with 24 and 22 points at the turn only to falter down the home straight but still did enough to earn some valuable points.  But it was the more consistent Kenny Baxter with a 17 (after 9) and coming home with a 20 that took out his second Dewars Classic in a row. However, a new name has appeared at the top of the Massey table ....

ROUND  TWO   REVIEW -   SCOOT MASTERS CARRINGTON "LAKES"

It hadn't rained for a month but the night before this round it did not let up as our intrepid twelve all turned up, teed off and wondered why the hell did we bother?? For only the second time in Massey history the round was not completed but this time it was due to unplayable conditions not lightning. The rain got heavier as the first group teed off on the ninth hole and by the time they got on the green it was covered in water. All groups played out the ninth with the knowledge that this was the minimum required to play to be considered an official round. As we all gathered under the cover of the BBQ sheds it was decided that the easiest way to score this round was to double the nine hole totals and then apply the handicaps.

A much improved Scoot came out on top shooting a very respectable 50 which adjusted to a net 61 as he mounts his tilt at the title.....

ROUND  ONE   REVIEW -   'FOX'POTS OUTSMARTS RIVALS!

Well we have kicked off the year by returning to 'The River' the new home of Fusspots who appears to have been foxing late last year to obviously gain an advantage in his starting handicap. How else can you explain this 'hybrid' tiger blitzing the field to win by 6 points in this stableford round. He still hasn't learned to look after his handicap though shooting a personal best and course record 41 points and slashing 3 shots from his new handicap after only the first round. Henry and Glenn paced themselves well bringing home second best points without losing a shot.... that's how you win Massey's Fussy! At the other end of the scale Beano struggled (a bit) with only 18 points blowing out nearly 2 shots and still receiving 3 points.

COURSE RECORDS:     Stab - M.O'Connor 41 (prev 38)
PERSONAL BESTS:      Stab - M.O'Connor 41 (prev 39)
PERSONAL WORSTS:   Nil

The Nancarrow's Cup match play results were as follows:

Pool A - Mike d Kenny 2 & 1; Fussy d Murph by forfeit; Scoot d Gooey by forfeit.
Pool B - Glenn d Bean 8 & 6; Henry d Schimma  5 & 3; Jimmy d Quinny 3 & 1.

Fusspots would like it known that he still remains undefeated against Murph.

2008/2009 FINAL ROUND  REVIEW -  WOW WEE!

Still holding an 8 point lead over Glenn & Quinny, Kenny remained the most likely winner on Friday night after a tantalising BBQ at Scoot's amongst cries of "If it bleeds you can kill it" ringing out. This was followed by yet another near all night session between KB, Quinny & The Bean that would set up what would be a very testing time on the final 18 holes (or 19?) while Glenn "slinked" off to bed much earlier in what could prove to be a very smart move indeed!.....

2008/2009 ROUND 6 REVIEW -  THE DOOR IS AJAR!

Kenny has a commanding 13 point lead going into the penultimate round at magnificent Moonah Links Legends course. The gladiators gradually assemble at the putting green after alighting their belongings at Scoot's Blairgowrie palace. Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the one "who caint be beat" he doesn't let us down by showing up after an all night party (with himself) seemingly oblivious to what lay ahead......
