 2022/23 FINAL ROUND  WRAPYARRAWONGA LAKES
A very hot 38 deg forecast with 20 to 35 km/h northerly's makes for more typical Yarrawonga conditions. Where we are ready to witness either a Ffffffirst Massey win for Fussy (52pts) or Robbo (48.5), a Fffforth for Murf (49) or a Ffffifth for Glenn (51), now in his favourite position of chasing the leader after his horror back nine yesterday.

The Groups were drawn..... DM/RW/SL, MR/MH/PW/IQ & MO/JG/AS/GM. (The leading four in bold letters). Kenny - retired???

At the half way mark the scores were:

Schimma 21, Robbo 19, Glenn & Jimmy 17, Murf, Henry, Gooey & Q 15, Fussy & Mike 14, & Bean 12.
The "live ladder" with 9 holes remaining would see Glenn now back in front with a 2.5pt lead over Robbo, with Murf & Fussy drifting 5.5pts off the lead in equal 3rd.

A rare sighting....while walking up the 17th fairway, a frustrated Q was lamenting to Henry how it felt like he was playing like a "spotted poxy cock sucker". When suddenly, Paul spotted Glenn in his bright yellow shirt on the 16th green waving aimlessly at us. "Look, there's a Yellow Breasted Cock Sucker!", Paul said, making himself go into involuntary raucous laughter, as he so often does.

Anyway, I digress....

At the completion of the final round the scores were:
Robbo & Schimma 37's, (19out /18in & 21/16 respectively), Henry & Glenn 36 (15/21 & 19/17), Fussy 35 (14/21), Murf & Gooey 34 (15/19 a piece), Jimmy & Mike 33 (17/16 & 14/19), Q 31 (16/15), & Bean 25 (12/13).

It turned out to be the tightest finish since 1993/94 when Murf won a 3 way (18 hole) playoff from Glenn and an injured Kenny (Tassie fishing trip ankle) with two others, Beano just 0.5 pt and M.West 1 pt from a 5 way! Here, we very nearly had a 3 way sudden death playoff. The scorer had to methodically get to work on that massive desk calculator to ensure everything was correct. After the signal had bounced back from the moon, NASA had received confirmation from Mr Squiggle that two players finished on 60pts and the winner on 60.5pts. The only players remaining to be listed on Beans' revered "White Board" was Fussy, Robbo & Glenn. Finally, it was revealed that the winner, winning his Fffffffffifth Massey was Glenn. Since taking his maiden win in Massey #24 he has now won 5 of the last 15.

PERSONAL COURSE BEST S'Fd:  G.Martin 36 (prev 35), M.O'Connor 35 (prev 31).
PERSONAL COURSE WORST S'Fd:  D.Murphy 34 (=prev), J.Griffiths 33 (=prev), M.Hall 33 (prev 35), I.Quinton 33 (=prev),
                                                          A.Sawyer 25 (prev 27).
Robbo has also set a new record of 4 wins in a season albeit all ties (ie none outright).

The Weekend Two Day Aggregate prize money went to Murf with 75pts edging out Schimma on 74, then Henry & Robbo with 71. Others were: MH 69, MO & JG 68, GM 64, SL 61, IQ 57, AS 56 & KB 7.

The Nancarrows Cup Matchplay Final: Mike v Robbo
The Front 9: The first hole was halved with 2pts a piece before a win to Robbo on the 2nd, then it was all square after Mike hit back on 3. Robbo makes his move with 3 in a row on 4, 5 & 6. Mike gets a much needed win on 7 and holes 8 & 9 are halved. Robbo 2 up at the turn - 3 wipes did not help Mikes cause at all.

The Back 9: The 10th is halved with one point each, Then Robbo wins 11 with a 3 pointer to go 3 up. In a massive turn around Mike goes 3pts, 3pts & 4pts to win 12, 13 & 14 to make it all square and it is now game on. 2 pts each for a half on 15 before Robbo snags two 3 pointers with pars on 16 & 17 to Mike's 2's to win his 2nd Matchplay title 2 and 1 in a match worthy of a final.

Stabrose Day was played at Black Bull GC in Yarrawonga and the three teams were: PW/MR/MO/KB, DM/GM/JG/MH & RW/SL/IQ/AS, min 4 drives each over 16 holes. DM/GM/JG/MH scored a massive 126pts to win in a canter over RW/SL/IQ/AS on 103 then PW/MR/MO/KB with 95pts. The winning combination now makes up the top 4 most winning participants of the event. Dare I say it the "Stabrose Dream Team!"

and now for a little more fiction, with a dash of mayonnaise......

A common habit of the Yellow Breasted Cock Sucker (or penis erectus inhalis) is an annoying trait of stealing the limelight. Can be seen in it's beautiful plumage strutting about like Mick Jagger, complete with hands on waist and lips pursed - not seen by many since the glory days of the Ski Club. And so the YBCS has struck once again, stealing the limelight. The calling of the final scores could have gone like this... and the winner, winning his Fffffffirst ever Massey (long pause - winner not revealed), is Mark....(longer pause - still not revealed!). But alas, no, not to be.

So, after stealing the limelight yet again, punishment by way of invoking the Walter Lindrum rule is hereby applied and as such, a mandatory 1.6 shot penalty from next years starting handicap. COP THAT COCK SUCKER!!!

Eye witness accounts have also emerged of a strange beam of light casting a silhouette of a strutting YBCS with what looks suspiciously like the Massey trophy, moving like Jagger across the night skies far above Portsea East. According to sources familiar with the sightings, the beam emanates from somewhere near Martin Manor where "Start Me Up" can be mysteriously heard, echoing like thunder....

 ROUND SIX WRAPYARRAWONGA MURRAY

Back to where it all began at the Massey's nursery of Champions.

Glenn, Murf, Jimmy, Mike, The Bean and of course, the one and (fortunately) the only, Kenny arrived the prior day (Thursday), who had considerately rung Q up at 2am Friday (just 2 hrs before his alarm was due) and left a message complaining that he was the only one still up. Gooey, Fussy, Henry, Schimma, Robbo & a very weary Q turned up at the golf course prior to tee off on Friday. This completed the first full book of Massey gladiator's (no sub required) to attend the final weekend together as one since, believe it or not, the 25th anniversary celebrations on the Gold Coast in 2009/10.

Groups for the round were drawn as follows....
DM/JG/KB/PW, MR/GM/IQ/MH (Matchplay SF's), RW/MO/AS/SL.

Glenn
came into the final weekend as the Massey leader with just a 2pt lead over Fussy, a further 6.5pts back to Robbo in third (both vying for their maiden Massey).. Murf was 4th - some 11pts off the lead ahead of the rest. The weather was fine & warm approx. 30deg.

At the half way mark scores were: Murf 22, Mike 21, Robbo & Schimma 20, Glenn 18, Henry, Jimmy & Beano 17, Gooey 16, Fussy 15,  Q 13 and Kenny 7. The standings on the 10th tee would have seen Glenn with a 5pt lead over Robbo and now 7pts to Fussy & Murf.

At the end of the penultimate round Murf took maximum points with a stellar 41 (22 out & 19 in) which consisted of 75 strokes plus a wipe on the par 3 10th. Schimma 2nd with a 37 (20 / 17 in) and Mike third on 36 (21 / 15 in).

Other scores were: Henry 35 (17/18), Jimmy 35 (17/18), Robbo 34 (20/14), Fussy 33 (15/18), Gooey 32 (16/16), Beano 31 (17/14), Glenn 28 (18/10 WHAAAT!!!), Q 26 (13/13) and Kenny 7 (7 / retired after 9).

What a difference 9 holes makes, with one round left to play Fusspot did just enough to grab a 1 pt lead over Glenn, who appears to have choked a bit on the back 9, with Murf now in third place just 3 pts adrift (but 2.5 shaved from his handicap) and Robbo still right in it, only 3.5 from the leader, Mike is 5th some 10 points behind and forget the rest.

PERSONAL COURSE BEST S'Fd:  D.Murphy 41 (prev 30), M.Hall 36 (prev 33).
PERSONAL COURSE WORST S'Fd:  G.Martin 28 (prev 37).

Nancarrow's Cup Match Play semi finalists were Glenn v Robbo and Q v Mike.

The Front 9: Glenn won the 2nd, then Robbo scored four in a row before Glenn clawed two back on 7 & 8 to see Robbo 1up at the turn. Mike & Q got off to a hot start with two 3's and a 2 each on the first 3 holes, Mike then claimed the next 5 holes (Q 3 wipes on end) in a dominant display to turn 5 up (ouch!).

The Back 9: Robbo strikes again on 10 & 11 only to see Glenn get those two back on 12 & 13. Holes 14 thru 17 were halved with a wipe,2,1&1 a piece to see Robbo advance to his 3rd Final aiming for a 2nd title. Meanwhile, Mike continued on with another win on 10, Q managed to get one back at 12 to barely stay alive, then it was dormy 5 with a halved hole on 13 before Mike rammed it home with an 8 for 1 to another wipe on 14 to move into his 3rd Final also chasing a 2nd win.

Robbo d Glenn   2 & 1
Mike d Q   5 & 4.

The Match Play Finalists are Robbo v Mike.

Enough with the facts, time now for some fiction.....

A few bevvies and a nice dinner in the club house followed the round, then everyone was glued to the big screen as it was all eyes on the first game of the AFL season between Collingwood & Geelong.
But we hadn't done the reading of the golf scores yet and Beano seamed a bit like a cat on a hit tin roof as if something wasn't quite going to plan. According to multiple sources familiar with the matter, The Bean was planning something BIG, a huge reveal. It wasn't until about 11.00pm before we meandered back to our rooms for some more refreshments (thanks Murf!) and the traditional "call of the card".

As we were getting ourselves set for the update of the scores, The Bean came through the sliding doors interrupting proceedings to unveil what soon became obvious was his pride & joy, a framed white board, some 38 years in the making. Complete with coloured lines meticulously setting out various rows and columns. He then commenced what can only be described as a pre-rehearsed presentation reminiscent of Bullwinkle The Moose. "Hey Rocky, watch me pull a rabbit out of my hat" style.

"Nothin' up my sleeve, hmmm what's this in my pocket - Presto!".
He then pulls out a handful of coloured white board marker pens. Oh boy, Wow wee!, was the reaction from the admiring and by now fully charged and captivated crowd. Then "Oh hang on, what's this in my other pocket". Gee wiz Bean!
was then heard (I think that was Jimmy), when he pulled out several magnetic name tags of all the Massey players to spectacularly display on the white board and provide a visual score by score tally of the entire weekend. He then continued with specific instructions on what colours were to be used in each column etc. to Schimma, who somehow found himself playing the role of "Mr Squiggle" for the weekend. A visibly petrified Schimma would then be constantly looking for Bean's approval to make sure he was using the correct colour in the right column, as if to ask "how's that Miss Pat?". Seriously, I was half expecting the white board to grumble "Hurry Upp".

"But wait there's more
" announced The Bean. He then produces, as a stage prop, a prehistoric supersized desk calculator, like the ones that used to take up a quarter of your desk! The adoring crowd went wild with spontaneous laughter. Proceeding to demonstrate to the bewildered (but also amused) scorer on how to calculate 9 points between 3 players.... "it's not rocket science!" he exclaimed. Side splitting stuff indeed... Yet, this bloody thing looked big enough and old enough to launch the Apollo missions (and Mr Squiggle) to the moon. The buttons on this thing are so big they can probably be seen from the moon as well. Although, according to some, he still couldn't press one button at a time.

Those very same sources suggested that Beano had several messages left on his phone from the office girl (or boy) at the Frankston City Council Works Depot. Asking in a state of panic, "where the hell is the white board that is used for the Maintenance Crew's daily job list". Apparently, the crews had to improvise by setting up random traffic control haphazardly all over the place
. Witness accounts say "that they had never looked busier leaning on their shovels and brooms and isn't great to see our rates at work - finally!". Oh, and that office girl (or boy), wants their calculator back too.

The Final Round (inc Matchplay Final) is to be played at Yarrawonga Lakes Course on Saturday 18 March at 9.28am.

The Groups were drawn..... DM/RW/SL, MO/JG/AS/GM & MR/MH/PW/IQ. Kenny withdrew to the club house!

Will Fussy or Robbo secure a maiden victory, will Murf conjure up a miraculous come back weekend from 11 pts down. Or, will the YBCS make an appearance and strut it's stuff again???? Stay tuned folks.....

 ROUND FIVE WRAP FLINDERS GC
Cool to mild but very comfortable conditions greeted our return to Flinders with Jack "The Bean Stalk" in for Schimma who was preparing to move house.

Glenn compiled a rock solid score of 40 stableford points (19 out / 21 in - 80 strokes!) to take maximum pts over Q 37 (19/18) and a 3 way tie for third on 36 pts between Henry (21/15), Mike (14/22) & Beano (13/23).

Other scores were:

Fussy 34 (20/14), Murf 33 (17/16), Gooey 33 (13/20), Kenny 33 (15/18), Robbo 30 (19/11 - costly!), Jimmy 30 (16/14) & Jack 18 (9/9).

Glenn has now taken the lead in the Massey by 2 pts over Fussy with Robbo dropping back to 3rd some 6.5 pts off the overall lead going into the final rounds at Yarrawonga (the latter two are vying for their maiden Massey title). The rest of the field trail by 11 points plus!

PERSONAL COURSE BEST:      S'ford - G.Martin 40 (=prev 40 - 15/16).
PERSONAL COURSE WORST:   S'ford - M.Robinson 30 (prev 31 - 15/16).
Hmmm - history never repeats but it occasionally echoes!

The Nancarrow's Cup match play results were as follows:

Pool A - Murf v Jimmy AS; Glenn v Mike AS, Bean v Kenny AS.
Pool B - Fussy d Robbo 4 & 3; Henry d Gooey 1 up; Q d Jack 7 & 5.

So, the matchplay semi finals are Glenn (5 Semis, 1 Final for 1 Win) v Robbo (2SF,2F,1W) and Q (4SF,3F,1W) v Mike (2SF,2F,1W).

Glenn will be attempting to achieve The Massey Double with a half twist - (ie also a Scoot Classic Team winning member).

With that possibility in mind, I duly researched the other Double (Scoot, Gooey & Q) & Triple Crown (Beano) Champions to see if they were also in winning Dewars or Scoot's Classic Teams in the same year. Of the Double Champs only Gooey earns the credit of already being a winning team member in the same year and achieve the "Double With a Half Twist" accolade in 2018/19. Of our famous Triple Crown Champ, Beano, it was even more interesting. Reading the review of Round 4 in 2011-12. The Bean was a member of the team where Schimma's 1st tee shot at Cape Schanck went out of bounds, they could see the ball in a backyard of a private property but the owner quite rightly refused entry to retrieve it (I believe they were told to "piss off and play your provisional"). This same team (also including Murf & Robbo) claimed they had the winning score of 40 pts (if they were only able to get their ball). Alas, the win was credited to a team with only 27pts. That makes Beano a " very nearly, almost but NOT quite a Four Peat or Double/Double Champ"....

The final rounds are at Yarrawonga Murray Course on Friday 17 March at 12.40pm and Yarrawonga Lakes Course on Saturday 18 March at 9.28am. The Stabrose Day will be at Black Bull GC, Yarrawonga on Sunday 19 March at 9.36am.

ROUND FOUR WRAP TRAFALGAR GC  (SCOOT'S VB CLASSIC)

A field of 11 Massey players with the sub being Tim Cross in for Kenny in steamy but overcast conditions.

Groups for Scoot's VB Classic were .... MH/JG/RW/MR,  GM/AS/SL/MO & DM/TC/IQ/PW

With the back nine played first, scores at the half way mark were: Robbo 23, Schimma 21, Gooey 21, Mike 20, Fussy 19, Glenn 18, Q 17, Murf 16, Timmy 16, Jimmy 16, Westy 13, & Bean 11.

In an unprecedented conclusion, we had a triple dead heat. Our half way leaders Robbo (23 out 18 in), Schimma (21/20) & Gooey (21/20) each finished on a course record 41 pts. On a back nine count back Robbo was eliminated and a last hole count back was required to separate Schimma (2 pts) from Gooey (1 pt) and be declared the winner of Scoot's VB Classic.

Robbo & Fussy now share the overall lead on 39 with The Man from Martin Manor lurking "one out and one back" (just where he likes it!) in third place on 36. Murf still also handy in 4th on 32.

Other scores were:

Murf 38 (16/22), Glenn 37 (18/19), Fussy 37 (19/18), Mike 35 (15/20), Q 34 (17/17), Timmy 30 (14/16), Westy 30 (13/17), Bean 30 (11/19)  & Jimmy 29 (16/13).

The Scoot's VB Classic Team results were:
SL/GM/MO/AS -  32pts (brought ball home)
TC/PW/DM/IQ -  25pts (Lost ball on 13)
RW/MR/JG/MH - 22pts (Lost ball on 11)

MASSEY COURSE RECORD:      Stableford - S.Lamey, R.Wiseman & M.Robinson 41 (prev 37 I.Quinton - 2003/04);
PERSONAL BEST MASSEY:       Stableford - R.Wiseman 41 (prev 40 - The Dunes 2013/14).

The Nancarrow's Cup match play results were as follows:

Pool A - Glenn d Bean 3/2; Mike d Jimmy 5/4; Murf d Timmy (sub for Kenny) 5/3;
P
ool B - Gooey d Fussy 3/2; Schimma v Robbo AS; Q d Henry 5/4.

Round Five is to be played at Flinders GC on Sunday 5 February at 3.00pm.
Followed by beers & results at the sports bar in the pub (announcement of match play finalists!). I then reckon it will be La Lupa's on the way home - Standby for groups and the all important last round matchplay pairings....

THE ROUND THREE WRAP DEVIL BEND

A hot sticky afternoon greeted us at "The Bend" for this third round encounter with a full book of starters, (Gooey soldiered on dutifully with a bulging disc in his back). Increasing cloud cover made the conditions more comfortable as the day wore on and only one player was able to break par at a track that we mostly seem to struggle at.

At his least favourite course on The Massey tour, where he is often seen throwing clubs in disgust (these bunkers are fucked!!!), Fusspot posted his only "under par" score ever at the track with a masterful 38 pts (20 out /18 in) to win the round which is not only his first ever win here but the only time that he has actually finished in the placings (onwards and upwards!). The win has now rocketed him to the overall lead. Murf picked up a very handy 2nd place with 35 pts (18/17) and The Bean hung on for third with a 34 (20/14) to keep their chances alive.

Other scores were:
Glenn 33 (15/18), Mike 32 (16/16), Schimma 30 (15/15), Robbo 28 (12/16), Q 28 (14/14), Henry 27 (13/14), Gooey 26 (12/14), Jimmy 18 (8/10) & Kenny 18 (8/10).

PERSONAL COURSE BEST:  Stableford - M.O'Connor 38 (prev 31).
PERSONAL COURSE WORST:  Stableford - S.Lamey 27 (prev 26); K.Baxter 18 (prev 23).

PERSONAL WORST H'CAP:  R.Wiseman 18.1 (prev 17.5).

The Nancarrow's Cup match play results were as follows:

Pool A - Murf v Mike AS; Glenn d Kenny 6 & 4; Bean disemboweled Jimmy 9 & 7 (Massey record prev. several 8 & 6's).
Pool B - Q d Gooey (inj) 3 & 2; Fussy d Schimma 4 & 3; Robbo v Henry AS.

Many thanks must go to Glenn & Tre for their kind hospitality for hosting the after game BBQ etc at the Martin Manor in "Portsea East".

The next round will be back to Royal Trafalgar Golf Club on Sunday 29 January 2023 at 11.30am (first time since 2004/05) for SCOOT'S VB CLASSIC. BBQ & Beers from the Club Bar after the game - Standby for groups....

THE ROUND ONE WRAP EAGLE RIDGE

A cool and showery day to kick off proceedings and no one was able to shoot a par score of 36 points. Henry was a scratching due to injury, but it was great to see Tubbsy again as his replacement. (There were some calls for it to be a permanent replacement!)

It finished with a triple dead heat with Glenn (19 out/15 in), Robbo (18/16) & Fussy (16/18) all registering 34 points.

Other scores were:
Mike 33 (14/19), Murf 32 (15/17), Jimmy 31 (19/12), Tubbsy 30 (15/15), Bean 26 (8/18), Schimma 24 (13/11), Gooey 23 (13/10), Q 19 (10/9) & Kenny 13 (6/7 playing right handed).

2021/22 FINAL ROUND  WRAPTOCUMWAL GC (Captains Course)
Another mild day and good playing conditions at Tocumwal GC where we gathered for the first time ever to shut the gate on another Massey season, but alas, the Horse Has Already Bolted. The only question left is by how far? As Jimmy The Griff approaches the final hurdle with an unassailable 13.5 point margin. Mike, is currently in second spot with Murf 0.5 behind him, then Glenn 0.5pt further back and Schimma 3 from Mike in 4th for the battle of the minors.

The Groups were drawn..... MH/RW/MO, GM/JG/MR & AS/IQ/DM/SL. (The leading five in bold letters)

At the half way mark the scores were:

Robbo 19, Glenn 18, Schimma, Gooey & Fussy 17, Mike & Bean 14, Jimmy & Q 12, & Murf 11.
The "live ladder" with 9 holes remaining would see Jimmy's margin slashed to 7 pts over Glenn, another 3.5 to Mike and 1.5 to Schimma. While Murf is going from bad to worse.

Jimmy, in his garish short shorts & shirt, seemingly just enjoying the scenery!

At the completion of the final round the scores were:
Robbo & Gooey 37's (19 out / 18 in & 17/20 respectively), Schimma & Glenn 35 (17/18 & 18/17), Fussy 34 (17/17), Jimmy & Q 32 (12/20 a piece), Mike 25 (14/11), Bean 23 (14/9) & Murf 20 (11/9).

So, we can now crown Jimmy the Griff the new & 6 time Massey Champion breaking a 15 year drought for him. Glenn came in second a massive 11.5 pts adrift, his 10th runner up and 18th podium finish. Then Schimma third 13.5 pts down.

Jimmy now has the distinction of being the only player to win a Massey by playing one game less, and now also the only player to have won the Massey with one round left to play! But was it by a record margin? (He asks knowingly).
Well, it beats the 9.5pt win Murf had over Glenn in 1999/2000 and the 9.5pt win Westy had over Murf in 2009/10. And in 2012/13, Schimma took a 5 point lead to Yarrawonga, then had an 8.5pt lead after round 6 on The Murray course and then extended that lead during the final round on The Lakes to a whopping 14 point win over Westy. Perhaps never to be eclipsed?

The Final Day Aggregate Pairs prize money went to Jimmy & Gooey with a combined 69 points to win by two points over Glenn/Q on 67 others were: RW/MH 60, DM/MR & AS/MO 57's. (perhaps a two day aggregate pairs next year?).

The Nancarrows Cup Final: Murf v Gooey
The Front 9: Gooey jumped the gun on the first after Murf double bogied. Then on the par 3 second, by some miraculous divine intervention (never ask Murf how), Gooey changed clubs on the tee and hit within 2m of the pin to 2 putt for 2up after 2. Murf then wiped 3 & 4 in which Gooey only needed double bogies for two more wins (4 up after 4!). More wins to Goo at 6 & 8 before Murf finally had a win at 9 to turn 5 down.

The Back 9: A very short summary here as Murf commenced the back nine with a double bogie then wiped the next 2. It was all over with the score line of 8 & 7 as Gooey takes out his 2nd Matchplay trophy.

Stabrose Day was played at Black Bull GC in Yarrawonga and the three teams were: Murf/Robbo/Mike, Glenn/Jimmy/Fussy (6 drives ea) & Schimma/Gooey/Q/Bean (exclude 1 player per hole in order, min 3 drives each over 16 - Bean pulled up lame early so went to 6 drives ea). DM/MR/MH scored 94pts easily accounting for RW/SL/IQ/AS on 84 then GM/JG/MO with 79pts.

 2021/22 ROUND SIX WRAPYARRAWONGA LAKES

Once again we were back to where the first ever Massey was won and lost.

Glenn, Murf, Jimmy, Mike & The Bean arrived the day before (Thursday), while Gooey, Fussy, Scmimma, Robbo & Q turned up at the golf course prior to tee off on Friday. Unfortunately, Kenny & Henry were unavailable.

Groups for the round were drawn as follows....
MO/MH/AS, JG/MR/IQ, DM/GM/RW/SL - matchplay SF's.

Jimmy
came into the penultimate round as the Massey leader with a massive 9pt advantage over Glenn, a further 0.5 pt back to Schimma in third, Mike was 4th - 12pts off the lead, Bean & Murf equal 5th just 0.5 from him. The weather was perfect, could history repeat and see Jimmy blow a HUGE lead as has happened many times before (refer preview below!).

At the half way mark scores were: Glenn 21, Gooey 20, Fussy 19, Jimmy (solid!), Schimma, Mike & Murf 18, Robbo 17, Beano 16 & Q 12. Jimmy was looking every bit the goods using a smooth and effortless swing, driving consistently 250m straight down the middle then push the approach iron to the right of the green (pin high), followed by a saving chip then 2 putts for the 2pts, rinse & repeat....

At the end of the round Jimmy The Griff etched his name into Massey folklore by extending his lead with another win with 40 pts (18 out & 22 in). Mike & Murf equal 2nd with 39 pts each (both 18 out & 21 in). In doing so Jimmy now has an unprecedented, unbeatable 13.5pt lead over Mike and 14 over Murf. You can put his name on the trophy right now with one round still to play- never been done before!

Other scores were: Gooey 38 (20/18), Q 37 (12/25), Glenn 35 (21/14), Robbo 35 (17/18), Schimma 34 (18/16), Fussy 31 (19/12) and Bean 27 (16/11).

PERSONAL COURSE BEST S'Fd:  D.Murphy 39 (prev 35), M.Hall 39 (prev 36), S.Lamey 38 (prev37), G.Martin 35 (prev 34).
PERSONAL COURSE WORST S'Fd:  R.Wiseman 34 (=prev), A.Sawyer 27 (= prev).

Nancarrow's Cup Match Play
semi finalists were Schimma v Gooey and Glenn v Murf.

The Front 9: Gooey pounced to 4up thru 6 before Schimma won on 8 & 9 which sees Gooey 2up at the turn. Murf won the 1st and Glenn tied it up at 3, went 2up after 6 and 3up at 8 before Murf won on 9 to see Glenn also turn at 2up.

The Back 9: Gooey wins 10 before Schimma strikes back on 11 & 12 to be just 1 down. A couple of halved holes then Gooey goes bang, bang on 15 & 16 to close it out 3 & 2 and advance to his 3rd Final. Meanwhile, Glenn quickly adds another win on the 10th to go 3 up, Murf hits back on 11,12 & 14 to tie it all up. they halve 15 then Glenn goes back into the lead at 16. Murf strikes back quickly on 17 and it's all square with one to play. The 18th is tensely halved so they trek back up the hill for a sudden death play off on 18. Murph finishes the better in a hotly contested semi after 19 holes to make it into his 2nd Matchplay Final.

Gooey d Schimma 3 & 2
Murf d Glenn after 19.

The Match Play Finalists are Murf v Gooey.

The Final Round (inc Matchplay Final) is to be played at Tocumwal Golf Club on Saturday 19 March at 10.08am.

The Groups were drawn..... MH/RW/MO), GM/JG/MR & DM/SL/AS/IQ.

Will Jimmy the Griff push on to the greatest ever Massey winning margin????
