THE BIRTH OF THE
MASSEY LEGEND (or IN THE BEGINNING...)
The inaugural event
that launched the Massey as we know it today started with a friendly
competition between six piss head mates. It's origins began in the halcyon
days of the Baxter Tavern on Thursday nights over very competitive games
of darts and lengthy drinking sessions. Somehow the scores of the early
rounds were recovered but unfortunately I think we were too pissed to
retain the scores from Yarrawonga.
Two rounds were
held on the final weekend with Gooey coming out the inaugural winner after
missing a round due to the passing of his mother.
The event wasn't
named until after round five at Portsea when James, after experiencing his
first round win, shared with us his exploits of the past about something
that resembled a Massey Ferguson Tractor in front of a captivated audience
of at least half the Portsea Pub beer garden. And the legend began....
